Mikaila & Alex’s Newcastle CBD engagement session was centred around a shared vision — to weave the timeless character of the city’s historic architecture into their photographs. Drawn to the warmth and permanence of heritage buildings, they wanted imagery that felt classic, grounded, and deeply connected to place.

We spent the afternoon wandering Newcastle’s quieter streets, where sandstone facades and old brick textures create a gentle stillness away from the city’s rush. These pockets of calm allowed them to settle naturally into each other — soft laughter, hands intertwined, unhurried moments unfolding against the historic backdrop they love so much.

One of the most meaningful locations for them was the historic post office. Its grand arches and weathered stone brought a sense of scale and elegance to their images, while their connection added warmth and intimacy to the stately surroundings. The architectural lines framed them beautifully, creating photographs that feel both editorial and timeless.

As evening approached, we moved to a rooftop overlooking the city — a favourite perspective of theirs. From here, the cathedral rose prominently behind them, quietly anchoring the skyline and giving a powerful sense of Newcastle’s heritage.
